Environmental and Social Impact Assessment availability for the ‘RDMP Balikpapan’ Project
SACE is considering support for the ‘RDMP Balikpapan’ Project, which consists of the expansion of an existing refinery (called Refinery Unit V Balikpapan), located in Balikpapan city, East Kalimantan province, Borneo Island, Indonesia.
The refinery currently has a capacity of 260,000 barrels per day (bpd) and the overall planned initiatives at Balikpapan refinery aim at expanding refining capacity to 360,000 bpd. The project also requires the expansion and upgrading of the Lawe-Lawe Crude Oil Terminal, together with its subsea and land pipelines system.
SACE is carrying on the environmental and social review of this project on the basis of the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) provided by the Project Company.
