Environmental and Social Impact Assessment availability for the Sakarya Gas Field Development (Phase II) Project
SACE is assessing the Sakarya Gas Field Development (Phase II) Project, following the completion of Phase I, which involves 10 additional wells to be drilled in the Sakarya Gas Field (Block C26) located in the exclusive economic zone of Turkey, off the Western Black Sea Region, 165 km offshore from Filyos. Two of these 10 wells will be connected to the existing subsea production system. The natural gas extracted from these wells will be transported to and processed in the existing Onshore Processing Facility (OPF) in Çaycuma district of Zonguldak province. The other 8 wells will be connected to a new subsea production system to be installed and will be processed within a floating production unit (FPU). The processed gas in the FPU then will be transported onshore through a 158 km long, 16-inch diameter steel pipeline, and delivered to the Petroleum Pipeline Company (BOTAŞ) through export pipelines. Phase II aims to increase the total maximum production capacity of the field to 20 million Sm³/day, adding 10 million Sm³/day to the existing capacity.
SACE is carrying on the environmental review of this Project on the basis of the national Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) provided by the Project Company and a Non-technical Summary of the EIA.
